Our Vision
What St John’s Wilberforce will be in 2010?
The Parish of St John’s Wilberforce will be a Christ-centred community so alive with the Holy Spirit that we will desire God’s glory in all we do.
Our church will be a nurturing community, committed to Christ, united in love and growing in holiness. We will joyfully serve God and one another with the gifts He has given us. As a prayerful community we will live and delight in God’s word.
God's passion for the lost will be seen in our sharing of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. With God’s help there will be no barriers of age, culture, or nationality in making people devoted followers of Christ. We will support the spread of the Gospel throughout the world. As an expression of God’s love for His creation, we will embrace opportunities for social action and welfare.
By the end of 2010 we aim to have 1000 people regularly celebrating together in our weekly services. This means that new services will need to be established. To maintain a nurturing and growing community, a large team of leaders will be developed, trained, supported and encouraged. ‘One to One Discipleship’ and ‘Home Groups’ will be significant vehicles of personal support, prayer, encouragement, teaching and growth. There will be many other programmes and groups that will foster spiritual growth and ministry in the Parish.
As God’s vision for our church is understood and shared by our congregation, more people will commit to achieving it. We will align everything in our church, including buildings, finances, programmes and technology with this vision. We will modify this vision according to God’s continued guidance and leadership.
